Fitting a Clock into an Ostrich Egg using a Hinged Ring

Gold Rim Insertion Clock
Our new gold rimmed ostrich egg clock with its classical elegant style will make a beautiful centrepiece to your ostrich egg designs. Fitting a clock into an egg is a simple process, allowing you to create wonderful and unique time-pieces.

To enable you to gain access to the back of the clock to replace the battery and adjust the time we recommend using a hinged ring. A 6.7cm hinged ring is required for our 63mm clocks.

To fit a clock into an Ostrich egg using a hinged ring you first need to make a template out of fablon or similar material to the exact size of the outer edge of the hinged ring. Position this onto the egg, very slightly above the centre. Draw around this in pencil and then remove the fablon. Check that the pencil drawing is still the correct size as the hinged ring.

Then, using either a carborundom disc or a diamond ostrich egg disc, cut out the circular piece for the hinged ring. Check that the hinged ring fits snugly into the egg up to the hinge. Sand the egg down to fit the ring if necessary. The clock should fit snugly into the hinged ring.
